About Wild Qi

Wild Qi lives as an integrative wellness campus rooted in the spirit of Ojai — blending ancestral wisdom, modern medicine, and deep connection.

We exist to help people reconnect to their vitality, creativity, and belonging through a shared ecosystem of healing, learning, and growth.

Ojai’s landscape reflects both the physical home and spiritual essence of Wild Qi—a valley where ancient oaks, flowing creeks, and golden light invite stillness and renewal. Known for its pink sunsets, spiritual lineage, and community rooted in creativity, healing, and connection, Ojai is a place where the veil between nature and spirit feels thinnest. Here, mountains hold the horizon, water carries memory, and community expands beyond walls—drawing those ready to slow down, restore, and return to what’s essential.
The Three Paths of Practice
At Wild Qi, our work is guided by three living principles — Self-Wisdom, Sacred Action, and Loving Devotion— each one reflecting a way of being in harmony with ourselves, one another, and the natural world. Together, they form a cycle of learning, doing, and becoming.
1. Wisdom through Reflection
At Wild Qi, wisdom begins in the soil — in integrity, humility, and commitment to practice.  Self-wisdom asks us to turn inward with curiosity: Who am I? What do I value? What does it mean to live well in this body and in this place?  Through study, contemplation, and honest inquiry, we cultivate awareness that anchors us to truth.  This inner grounding becomes the fertile earth from which purposeful action and compassionate connection grow.
2. Sacred Action
Embodied wisdom manifests as action. At Wild Qi, service is not separate from self — service becomes the flow of our inner knowing expressed through care, creativity, and contribution. Whether tending to others, the land, or our daily responsibilities, we practice presence, honesty, and compassion. Through this steady flow of service, we water the seeds of loving-kindness that nourish our collective growth.
3. The Path of the Heart
Joy flowers from service — the natural expression of a life lived in harmony.  At Wild Qi, love flows through everything: song, movement, shared meals, ritual, and quiet connection.  When we soften judgment and open to one another, compassion blooms freely. Through joy, we remember our essential nature — to love, to belong, and to celebrate the beauty of being alive together.

Meet our founders

Meet Dr. Nathalie Shapiro

Doctor of Chinese Medicine | Herbalist | Community Builder

Dr. Nathalie Shapiro is a Doctor of Chinese Medicine specializing in women’s health and alchemical acupuncture. She is also a dedicated herbalist and community builder, weaving together ancient traditions and modern healing practices.

Nathalie’s path began at Bard College, where she studied philosophy. Dissatisfied with academic philosophy, she sought deeper wisdom and found her way to Vedanta Academy in India, where she immersed herself in Vedanta philosophy under Swami A. Parthasarathy. During this time, while navigating her own health challenges with PCOS, she experienced the profound healing power of Ayurveda and Chinese Medicine—igniting her lifelong devotion to integrative healing.

She went on to earn her Master’s degree in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine and later a Doctorate in Women’s Health. For the past several years, Nathalie has run a thriving acupuncture practice in Los Angeles, specializing in fertility, reproductive medicine, and holistic women’s health.

Motherhood deepened her commitment to creating spaces of true healing. After giving birth at home in Santa Monica to her now one-year-old son, Sage, Nathalie’s vision expanded to include building a sanctuary for integrative medicine and community wellness. That vision has become Wild Qi—a place where medicine, ritual, and community come together to nourish body, mind, and spirit.

Meet Camille Edwards

Lawyer | Educator | Ritual Guide

Camille Edwards is a lawyer, educator, and ritual guide whose work sits at the intersection of law, business, and community. After graduating from Harvard Law School, she spent several years as a corporate lawyer representing entertainment and start-up clients, where she developed deep expertise in business strategy for creative ventures.

At Wild Qi, Camille leads programming, special events, membership, and coworking, weaving her business acumen with her passion for community and holistic well-being. She views the space as a living bridge between business and spirit — a place where people can connect through shared presence, beauty, and meaningful conversation.

Camille’s journey from corporate law to community leadership reflects her belief that connection itself is medicine. After leaving corporate law, Camille spent extensive time in Central and South America studying with indigenous elders how we can bring ancestral, earth-based wisdom into our modern lives. Drawing on these studies, she creates immersive programs that invite participants to return to themselves, cultivate clarity, and align with their inner wisdom.

Meet Ivan Chen

CFO, Financial advisor, passionately political, husband, father

Ivan Chen is a financial professional with over 15 years of experience across finance, insurance, and real estate. He earned his bachelor’s degree from UC Irvine and began his career in real estate and mortgages just before the 2008 financial crisis, sparking his passion for risk management. Ivan has held roles at leading institutions including AIG, JPMorgan Chase, City National Bank, and MUFG, and currently serves as a financial advisor with Edward Jones in Ojai.

In addition to finance, Ivan founded and later wound down a pandemic-era biosecurity company on the Navajo Nation, which at its peak employed over 100 local staff and contracted with both the U.S. Army and the Navajo Nation.

Beyond his professional career, Ivan’s most transformative work has been personal. Following the challenges of a failed first marriage, he immersed himself in healing and growth through attachment theory, somatic therapy, spirituality, and resilience practices. This journey prepared him to enter a new chapter of life with greater wisdom and strength. Today, Ivan’s most important roles are as Nathalie’s husband and Sage’s father, alongside managing Wild Qi.
